Lisa Thomas to reveal unique insights from 760,000 customers, highlighting barriers to EV adoption and showcasing innovative solutions.

Lisa Thomas, Chief Marketing Officer at Motability Operations, the UK's biggest car leasing company, will deliver a keynote speech at MOVE 2024, the world's premier tech mobility event. Her address will focus on the urgent need to make the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) more accessible and inclusive for disabled drivers, drawing on unique insights from Motability Operations' 760,000 customers.

"Our customers provide us with invaluable insights, and they are telling us that more needs to be done to make the EV infrastructure accessible." said Lisa Thomas. "They represent a diverse cross-section of society, and their experiences with EVs offer valuable lessons for the wider industry and policymakers."

Motability Operations is a vital player in the UK automotive industry. The company delivers the Motability Scheme which enables disabled people with a qualifying benefit to lease affordable and accessible vehicles keeping them connected to work, healthcare, education and the world around them.

With a customer base larger than any other fleet operator in the country, the company possesses unparalleled insights into the needs and experiences of disabled drivers.

Over 50,000 Scheme customers have switched to an EV so far, but the company is aware that many customers have concerns about the cost of EVs, anxiety over range and issues with the lack of accessible public charging.

Thomas' keynote will highlight some of these challenges, but also disclose a range of initiatives the company is delivering to address them, including:

  • Working with home chargepoint supplier Ohme to install over 46,000 home charge points for customers as part of their EV lease package.
  • Partnering with Paua, to launch the ‘Motability Go Charge' app to simplify public EV charging for Scheme customers.
  • Launching eVITA, a next generation electric wheelchair accessible vehicle (eWAV) concept with automotive design house CALLUM.

Motability Operations believes that collaboration is essential in making the UK’s shift to EV a success. By combining insight from their customers and industry expertise, they can ensure nobody is left behind in the transition to electric.

Motability Operations is proud to be a platinum sponsor of MOVE 2024. The organisation will be on stand 28 at the event, showcasing accessible and innovative solutions in the move to EV, alongside partner organisations the Motability Foundation and CALLUM.
