Motability Operations, the UK’s largest fleet owner, drives towards an EV future as the industry moves to electric: Motability Operations EV and customer

Motability Operations releases its latest price list with an increased range of great value and long-range EVs, making it more affordable for its 700,000 disabled customers to switch to electric.

2 January 2024 - Motability Operations, the company behind the life-changing Motability Scheme, is continuing to make sure no one is left behind in the transition to electric, as it offers its biggest ever choice of affordable and accessible EVs to its customers.

More than 700,000 disabled people and their families rely on the Motability Scheme to help them access work, education, healthcare, social activities and more.

As the automotive industry shifts its production lines, and the availability of new petrol and diesel cars starts to decrease over the coming years, the organisation has committed to supporting its customers make the switch. The company has pledged £300m, over three years, to support affordability and is working with manufacturers to increase the range of EVs available all the time.

Andrew Miller, chief executive of Motability Operations, said: “We know the Motability Scheme is life-changing and over 700,000 disabled people rely on it to keep them independently mobile. That’s why it’s so important make sure there are vehicles available that suit their needs as the industry moves to electric.

“We know that cost and range anxiety are two of the biggest barriers for our customers and I’m proud that we now have even more affordable and longer-range options available.”

With the largest fleet of cars in the UK, the organisation is in a unique position to lead the way in driving EV adoption in the UK, using its comprehensive customer insight to address challenges, find solutions, and make sure EVs can work for everyone.

Miller continues: “Our customers tell us that public infrastructure is often inaccessible, in narrow parking spaces or with no dropped kerb, charging cables are heavy, and the payment systems can be complicated and confusing. Nearly half of our customers don’t have off-street parking and can’t charge at home, so we know there’s still more to do.

“We’re working with industry and partners to address challenges, pilot innovative tech and find solutions. We have already supported more than 38,000 of our customers to make the switch and we’ll continue to drive a transition to electric that truly works for everyone.”

The latest quarterly price list features more than 180 EV options, and a larger choice of long-range EVs. Many models now have lower Advance Payments, to make them more affordable for Scheme customers. The list can be found at www.motability.co.uk/find-a-vehicle. Customers can also use the £750 New Vehicle Payment towards their Advance Payment on their new car, and the organisation has just extended this offer for customers who join the Scheme during 2024.
